1. Definitions

• “We”, “us”, “our”: Birthday Steak, operator of birthdaysteak.co.uk.
• “You”: The person using the website or purchasing a voucher.
• “Voucher”: A digital dining gift voucher with a unique code, redeemable under these terms.
• “Partner venue”: An independent restaurant or pub that accepts Birthday Steak vouchers on the terms we agree with them.
• “Recipient”: The person the voucher is for; they register it with the delivered email before the venue may redeem it.

2. About Birthday Steak

Birthday Steak is an experience gifting service. We sell digital vouchers that can be redeemed for food and drink at named partner venues across South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, and surrounding areas. We are the issuer of the voucher; the partner venue supplies the meal and service on the night.

3. Voucher terms

• Each voucher is valid for 12 months beginning on the first calendar day it may be used, as chosen at purchase (within the limits shown at checkout).
• Vouchers are valid only at the specific venue stated on the voucher (or as otherwise described for “any venue” products, if offered).
• Vouchers may be used against any items the venue serves in the ordinary course — typically food, drinks, starters, and desserts — up to the face value of the voucher, subject to the venue’s normal trading and menu.
• Where the bill exceeds the voucher value, the recipient must pay the difference to the venue.
• Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash and have no cash value except as credit toward eligible spend at the venue.
• The recipient must register the voucher using the email address it was delivered to before any partner venue may redeem it. Once registered, the voucher cannot be transferred, merged, or amended.
• Each voucher code may be redeemed once. After full redemption, the code cannot be reused.
• After the expiry date, the voucher has no value. The expiry date marks the end of the 12 months validity window described above.
• Altered, defaced, or fraudulently obtained vouchers may be refused.

4. Contract and price

When you complete checkout and we accept payment, a contract is formed between you and us for the voucher described in your order. Prices are as displayed at checkout in GBP. We may change list prices or experience descriptions on the site at any time; the price you pay is the price confirmed at checkout.

5. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to purchase a voucher. By purchasing, you confirm that you have authority to use the payment method provided.

6. Payment

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your full card details. If a payment fails or is reversed, no voucher will be issued.

7. Delivery

Unless you choose postal delivery (where offered), vouchers are delivered by email. You are responsible for providing a correct recipient email address. Scheduled delivery is our best effort and is not a guaranteed time. Postal products, where available, are described at checkout.

8. Refunds and cancellations

Because vouchers are digital and tailored (including personal messages), they are generally non-refundable once delivered to the recipient’s inbox. If a voucher has not yet been delivered (for example, a future scheduled send), contact us promptly at [email protected] and we will try to help. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer where they apply.

9. Partner venues

We may add or withdraw partner venues. If a venue permanently ceases to accept our vouchers before you redeem, contact us and we will work with you in good faith (for example by alternative arrangement where reasonably possible). We are not responsible for the quality of food, drink, or service at the venue; that is a matter between you or the recipient and the venue, though we appreciate hearing about serious issues.

10. Acceptable use

You must not use our site or vouchers for fraud, abuse, or any unlawful purpose. We may suspend orders or redemption where we suspect misuse.

11. Intellectual property

The Birthday Steak name, branding, website content, and voucher designs are protected by intellectual property rights. You may not copy or reuse them without our permission except as needed for personal use of a voucher you have purchased.

12. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law. Subject to that, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss of opportunity arising from your use of our site or vouchers. Our total liability to you in connection with a voucher purchase is limited to the amount you paid us for that voucher.

13. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page applies to new purchases from the date posted. Vouchers already issued remain subject to the core validity and redemption rules communicated at purchase.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country require otherwise.
